If you’re posting comments on blogs, forums and social media sites (and you should be!) then you’ll want to create your Gravatar.  A Gravatar  is an online avatar image that’s connected to your email address.

Your Gravatar is an important tool for building and maintaining your online identity as it enables you build brand recognition and credibility.  For example, if you were to comment on this or other posts on my blog your Gravatar image will appear next to your post. Without a Gravatar, your post will be faceless and at risk of being rejected by my webmaster as a spam bot.

How to get a Gravatar

It’s very simple and free. Just head over to www.Gravatar.com  and sign up. Your Gravatar is linked to your email address and you can maintain several with the one account. This can be useful for various products or branding strategies. Although, as your aim is to create brand equity, I don’t advise using too many Gravatars as you risk creating identity confusion. It’s important to enter your correct email address each time you post a comment on a blog otherwise your Gravatar won’t appear.
