DAY 4: My Body’s At War

Day 4 DARE Challenge:

After 3 days of feeling fantastic, I woke today with a headache and waves of nausea.

I understand that often, when undertaking a detoxification, your body releases toxins into the bloodstream as a way of commencing the healing process.  Symptoms can include headaches (ranging in severity), moodiness, and nausea as the body starts cleansing and eliminating waste.

CHALLENGE #4:
When you wake with a detox ‘hangover’, at first it seems like the perfect excuse for staying in bed a little longer.  Exercising doesn’t seem to marry well with an upset stomach and headache.  Yet, there’s more to us than our physical body.  Our entire wellbeing is also wrapped up with our mentally and spiritually health.

So knowing how much my head loves a morning walk along the beach, off I wandered.  And thanks to the amazing healing power of the ocean, after 10 minutes, I started feeling much better.  Admittedly I didn’t walk for my usual hour, instead after about 30 minutes I opted to sit and reflect on my challenge thus far…slowing down is also a great healing mechanism.

By mid afternoon there was no more headache or nausea.

VERDICT:  Initially my morning aches sapped my enthusiasm slightly and reduced the ‘high’ I’d been feeling the last few days.  Nonetheless, I’m delighted to know my body is ridding itself of debris that is holding me back.

With this insight I became excited knowing that I’m moving into a higher level of health and vitality.  The perfect way to start a new year.
